I'd like to pretend I'm laid-back, but my sale shopping strategy says otherwise. Every year ahead of Cyber Week, I start planning what I want and where I'm shopping nearly a month in advance (in an Excel sheet, no less). I start by taking inventory of the gaps in my wardrobe and what retailers can help me fill them, and this year, Tommy Hilfiger is at the top of my list. I'm in dire need of stylish, high-quality sweaters, and I prefer a name brand (sue me!), so I'm waiting to stock up on my favorite the minute the sale begins. Yesterday, I sifted through 200 pieces of knitwear on Tommy Hilfiger's site, narrowing down my picks to my top 10 (editor tip: I'll likely only buy five or so, but I like to have a healthy inventory in my cart because things will inevitably sell out). Then I added them to my virtual cart, where they'll patiently sit until November 29th. No waiting in long lines and no panicking last minute about what to buy.

I especially need sweaters made with natural fibers to keep me warm during the freezing New York winters. Here's some tough love: A sale item actually isn't a steal if you never planned to buy it in the first place. Tommy Hilfiger is one of those brands that already makes luxury accessible, and even more so during Cyber Monday. By planning the exact pieces I want to buy, I can find name-brand pieces without the name-brand prices.
