When I first moved to Los Angeles from New York, I'll be honest, I was a bit worried my favorite fall staples would collect dust in the back of my closet. Sure, I'm no longer reaching for my heavy puffer coats, but fortunately, many of my chilly weather essentials have still been able to see the light of day. But here's the thing about autumn in Los Angeles: The weather has a mind of its own. Toasty, 85-degree fall days are commonplace, something I never experienced on the East Coast. As such, lightweight silhouettes are the name of the game, and this season, It girls are turning their attention to long-sleeve striped tees. Comfortable and cute in equal measure, the look has caught on far beyond Southern California, too.

Are stripes for fall groundbreaking? Not quite. However, there's no denying the look packs more of a playful punch than your classic white or black long-sleeve tees. And it seems the industry's coolest brands agree, as the likes of Reformation, Kallmeyer, and J.Crew have jumped on the trend. As for styling a long-sleeve striped tee? Don't overthink it. In Los Angeles, I've seen fashion people wear theirs with slouchy jeans and flip-flops for casual afternoons. Alternatively, the tees are the perfect foil to a dressier skirt, such as a lace or embellished midi.
